‘Lost’ ‘Across The Sea’ Episode Draws Mixed Reactions Across The Web – MTV.com – NIMBRUNG.NET
Did you watch “Lost” on Tuesday night? If not, stop reading. Seriously. Spoilers ahead.
OK. If you’re still here, you either watched the revealing episode, “Across the Sea,” or you don’t care if major plot points are spoiled. To summarize, it was entirely focused on the origin of Jacob and his nameless friend, the Man in Black, on the mysterious Island at the center of the series.
It was revealed that the two are fraternal twins. Their pregnant mother washed up ashore and was killed by a native (Allison Janney) after delivering them. It was also revealed that the Island’s protectors — first the mysterious native, later Jacob himself — are charged with keeping safe a cave housing a bright, golden light, which is described as “the warmest, brightest light you’ve ever seen or felt … a little bit of this light is in every man.” If the light goes out, POOF! So do we.
The episode garnered some mixed reactions around the Internet, with a variety of celebrities chiming in to give their impressions on Twitter. “Human Giant” creator Paul Scheer was reminded of a classic moment from TV’s past. “Tonight’s LOST reminded me of the 3rd to last ‘Cosby Show.’ Esp. with the light cave and that scene where Mrs Huxtable kills Theo.” Everyone remembers that little chestnut, right?
“The Brothers Bloom” writer/director Rian Johnson seems a little confused about who the key players are. He tweeted, “Man, LOST is almost over and I still don’t know whether to trust Sirrus or Achenar,” referring to the classic PC game “Myst.” (Suffice to say, Sirrus and Achenar are brothers who are at odds with one another.)
Elsewhere in the Twitterverse, “Puss in Boots” writer Brian Lynch summarized his dissatisfaction with the episode by lumping it into the same category as a notable film flop from Hollywood’s past. “LOST: THE PHANTOM MENACE was really stirring,” he wrote. “Tropic Thunder” actor David Pressman echoed the sentiment in his own tweet, but more succinctly: “Well that episode of ‘LOST’ stunk on ice.”

‘Idol’ front-runner has faced bumps along the way (AP) – NIMBRUNG.NET
She’s overcome a lot more in her young life.
Maybe that’s why the 24-year-old single mother with dreadlocks has what friends call “an old soul” and a serene stage presence — big parts of her appeal as one of four final contestants on the Fox singing competition.
Her parents divorced when she was a toddler. She grew up faster than a lot of kids around her and felt like an outsider at times in her hometown where there are no more than 100 people, two churches and not a single store.
All that isolation left her plenty of time to play guitar and write songs.
“She was kind of like a 30-year-old trapped in a kid’s body,” said Dave Gierke, who heard Bowersox sing when she was 14 and helped her get into Toledo School for the Arts. “She walked into the school with as much talent as she walked out with.”
Bowersox would get up early and travel about 20 miles to school each day in downtown Toledo, sometimes catching rides with Gierke, a school administrator.
She left home when she was just 17, moving to Chicago where she spent five years playing guitar and singing in coffee houses and train stations. She waited tables at a blues club, soaking up the atmosphere.
She might still be there if she hadn’t gotten pregnant.
Instead, she found herself living at home, raising her newborn son and playing in bars, sometimes just for tips.
“If there’s anybody that paid their dues, it’s her,” said Eric Hise, owner of a bar in nearby Genoa where Bowersox sang on Saturday nights. “She needed work, and I needed a musician.”
She surprised most of her friends when she tried out for “Idol.”
“I said, ‘Are you sure you want to do this?’” said Terri May, a longtime family friend who often sang karaoke with Bowersox and her mother. “I thought she’s heading into a pop scene and she’s very alternative and folky.”
Her earthy style has been a welcome change this season.
She’s performed in bare feet and high heels. Her performance of Tracy Chapman’s “Give Me One Reason” early in the competition led Simon Cowell to say that she was “the one everyone has to beat.”
Bowersox was brought to tears a few weeks ago after a soulful take of The Impressions’ “People Get Ready”
“My dad’s here,” she said, “and this is the first time he’s been here.”
Bowersox, who has diabetes, nearly saw her run end when she was hospitalized in early March. The show’s producers switched the semifinal performance order at the last minute, giving her an extra day to come back and earn raves.
She emerged as a favorite, but two straight weeks of less-than enthusiastic reviews have brought her back to the pack.

First impressions of Jason Campbell – Thoughts from the Dark Side (blog) – NIMBRUNG.NET
Hot Breaking News about First impressions of Jason Campbell Thoughts from the Dark Side blog Perhaps the story of the 2010 draft’s third day was the trade by the Oakland Raiders to acquire QB Jason Campbell from the Washington Redskins for a fourth round pick in 2012. This weekend at the Raiders mandatory mini-camp, the ex-Redskin had his first opportunity to participate in practices with his new teammates. While he was finishing up his weekend in Alameda on Sunday, I was busy searching the net and trying to dig up all the dirt I could find on the Redskins first round pick from 2005.
started by watching nearly all his highlights/lowlights from the 2009 season, provided via NFL.com’s Redskins video page. One of the things that I noticed during my video research process was that he got better as the season went along. This could be due to several factors. For one, the fact that the Redskins changed play callers about halfway through the season last year. Number two, they lost 3 or four starting offensive lineman last year, so the back-ups took some time to gel. Or, it could be due to the fact that the Redskins really never gave him a vote of confidence to start the year off on the right foot. There was constant talk of starting Todd Collins, drafting Mark Sanchez, and trading for Jay Cutler during the 2009 offseason.
Regardless of all the undermining done by the Washington staff, Campbell performed at a decent level in 2009, throwing for over 3,000 yards and 20 touchdowns. His passer rating in the red zone was through the roof at around 110.0 with 18 touchdowns and 0 interceptions. His completion percentage was a soaring 64.5 percent overall for the year, up from the 62.4 percent mark he hit in 2008. While he increased his career touchdown pass mark to 55 total touchdowns, but he also threw a disheartening 15 interceptions, which was also his career high for a season.
I have to admit, when the idea was first posed that the Raiders should trade for Campbell my initial thought that there had to be other options. I even wrote an article saying that the Raiders should look at other team’s back-ups before they looked at this former Washington starter. However, in just a few short weeks, Campbell has groI read an article today that was written by a colleague of mine on Silver and Black Pride; it was called “The Bacon Fat on Jason Campbell.” In it, the author describes how he made it a point to go to the Redskins blog of SB Nation, and get thoughts from actual Redskins fans on Campbell. I’m going to give a few examples of what the folks of Hogs Haven had to say about Campbell:

College ACB Guide Details,Website,Reviews And Rumours Exclusive – Styleblips – NIMBRUNG.NET
collegeacb.blogspot.com, which updates frequently about new features and news related to College ACB. Despite its continued success and allowance for user regulation, many see College ACB as a duplicate of JuicyCampus in that it promotes slander and gossip. Carolyn White of the Cornell Daily Sun described College ACB as being “a disease, contagious and addictive. Worse, it is self-destructive and undermines everything universities stand for” (White, Carolyn)
Despite its success, College ACB has seen its share of controversy due to its similar gossip and rumor style to its predecessor JuicyCampus. University students interviewed by Time Magazine described College ACB as “ranging from the helpful…to sex fantasies, gossiping, teasing friends,…[and] a lot of hate” (TimeMagazine Youtube)Several college students, such as Jared Sichel of Tulane University have openly stated they wish to “Ban College ACB” (Sichel, Jared)due to the harm that it can cause to students. Mark Smith, associate professor of communications at Truman University, states that “it is legal for schools to ban College ACB” (Elizabeth, Koch) Peter Frank states that his website allows students to “build a community” (Frank, Peter)and exercise their rights to free speech, but by allowing students freedom to post what they want, College ACB welcomes bashing of other students and provokes personal attacks that are often rooted in rumors.
Ryan Mueller of Truman State University states that College ACB “can cause damage to people’s reputations and [give] others a false impression” (Koch, Elizabeth)thereby harming or damaging students emotional state. Despite the controversy surrounding College ACB, Peter Frank himself is virtually free of lawsuits that would eliminate College ACB due to the Communications Decency Act of 1996 which states that “operators of Internet services are not to be construed as publishers and thus not legally liable for the words of third parties who use their services” (“Communications Decency Act,” 2010) In early 2010, Amber Pickett, a communications major at the University of Tennessee at Martin began spear heading a campaign that would remove the University from College ACB, stating that “there is a point where you can abuse your freedom of speech” (Emery, Regina)
The website was opened in the wake of JuicyCampus’s closing on June 2 , 2010 by two recent university graduate students, Andrew Mann of John Hopkins University and Aaron Larner of Wesleyan University. The site is currently run by Peter Frank, also a student of Wesleyan University who graduates in 2012. On February 1, 2010, the website reached a record with over “900,000 impressions [in one day]” (Frank, Peter)

‘American Idol’: Crystal Bowersox’s ‘People Get Ready,’ says she can glam it up – Zap2it.com (blog) – NIMBRUNG.NET
Hot Breaking News about American Idol Crystal Bowersoxs People Get Ready says she can glam it up Zap2itcom blog
Crystal Bowersox turned in another powerhouse performance on “American Idol” Inspirational Songs week for “Idol Gives Back.” She chose “People Get Ready” by The Impressions and her emotional singing left nary a dry eye in our section at the taping.. Crystal said onstage that she became choked up because it was the first time her dad had been to see her perform on “Idol.” He looked cool as a cucumber in his shades, but we bet he was pretty touched behind the glasses.
Crystal has been the frontrunner for weeks now but it was nice to see her open up a bit. Her personality perhaps doesn’t come through as best it could — perhaps because she seems flawless. She rarely has an off night and even those have only tiny mistakes.
We also loved seeing her completely instrument free and dressed to the nines. She looked gorgeous and she tells Zap2it, “Just because I have dreadlocks doesn’t mean I can’t be elegant. I don’t have to wear jeans … I’m a woman.”
Absolutely, Mama Sox!
