Hot Breaking News about Thailand censors more websites as protests persist AP

BANGKOK – George Orwell’s “1984″ had its Big Brother, and Thailand has Ranongrak Suwanchawee. The country’s information minister stares down from billboards along Bangkok‘s expressways, warning that “Bad websites are detrimental to society” and should be reported to a special hot line.

The government of Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva is fighting a battle on at least two major fronts against protesters seeking its ouster. On the streets, a massive force of soldiers and police has only managed to battle them to a standstill. In cyberspace, the authorities have fared little better, despite efforts to block dissenting voices with the threat of lengthy prison terms.

Still, it is a struggle for uncensored information to get through, forcing both information providers and consumers to resort to various dodges to penetrate the government’s firewall, sometimes using tactics perfected by dissidents in such authoritarian states as China and Iran.

The often broad-brush approach to blocking websites even affects surfers just out for some video fun: Live streaming services justin.tv, usteam.tv and livestream.tv have also been blocked, apparently because they host transmissions by the so-called Red Shirt protesters.

“Thailand is getting increasingly like China when it comes to Internet censorship,” said Poomjit Sirawongprasert, president of the Thai Hosting Service Providers Club.

How Blippy users’ credit cards got into Google – CNET – NIMBRUNG.NET

How Blippy users’ credit cards got into Google – CNET – NIMBRUNG.NETHot Breaking News about How Blippy users credit cards got into Google CNET
Blippy

After Blippy exposed credit card numbers in early February, Google’s search crawlers failed to detect that it had scrubbed its site.

A series of gaffes at Blippy, Google, and a Midwest bank exposed the credit card numbers of four individuals within Google search results for over two months.

Friday was easily the worst day in the history of Blippy, a young startup that allows people to create social networks around sharing information on goods and services that they buy. VentureBeat discovered that credit-card numbers of four Blippy users could be found in Google’s search index and published a story, forcing the startup’s three founders to scramble to repair the damage and get the numbers removed from Google’s search index.

Blippy acknowledged that it should not have exposed raw data containing credit card numbers to the Internet back in February when it was working on the site. But Google confirmed that its search bots should have noticed that Blippy had removed that raw data promptly when its crawling technology made its next pass across Blippy’s site, which may have never happened.

South Park Episode 201 with the Name Muhammad (PBUH) Censored – Puggal Latest News and events – NIMBRUNG.NETHot Breaking News about South Park Episode 201 with the Name Muhammad PBUH Censored Puggal Latest News and events

The episode 201 of the hit Comedy Central adult animated show “South Park” was originally made to depict the Islamic Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) as one of the characters who return for revenge on the makers of South Park for making fun of him. It is stated by the producers of the show that in the original episode the depiction of the prophet was not insulted in any way, neither was it made fun of. But of course the “depiction” of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) in any way, is prohibited. This was told to the producers of South Park by an Islamic website.

According to details the website RevolutionMuslim.com posted an indirect threat to the makers of South Park by saying that they might end up like the Dutch filmmaker Theo Van Gogh, who was killed by unknown people, probably for making a movie that portrayed violence against women in Islam. Makers of South Park evidently got scared of the threat and censored the whole depiction of Islamic Prophet (PBUH) from the episode and whenever someone took the name of ”Muhammad” in the episode, it was replaced by a beep. That is the reason that you’ll hear a lot of beeps when you watch this episode of South Park. As far as the visual depiction is concerned, the character of Muhammad (PBUH) was replaced by Santa Claus.

It is reported that some time after the threat post on the Islamic website, the website was overloaded with traffic and a lot of people accused the message being a threat, but the webmaster denied that it was a threat.
