Hot Breaking News about Trim those sails at sea with a fitness cruise Reuters

NEW YORK (Reuters) – Cruise liners, long considered modern-day galleons of gluttony, are also hoisting seriously sophisticated fitness and wellness centres on the high seas.

The food has not disappeared but a battery of seaworthy fitness experts are also on deck to help the health-minded cruiser resist the siren song of that endless buffet.

“Cruise lines are doing a great job of keeping up with the 21st century. You can be a fitness junkie on a cruise,” said Mike Weingart of Travel Leaders in Houston, Texas. “Those who want to be fit can keep up their routine.”

Or learn new ones.

Jogging tracks and state-of-the-art fitness centres are standard on most big ships, but increasingly so are wellness education classes, metabolic testing and cutting edge fitness classes, from kettlebell workouts to TRX suspension training, which borrows technology from U.S. Navy Seals.

"iCarly’s" Miranda Cosgrove, anything but "Despicable" (Reuters) – NIMBRUNG.NET

Hot Breaking News about iCarlys Miranda Cosgrove anything but Despicable Reuters
LOS ANGELES (Reuters) –
“iCarly” star Miranda Cosgrove may be one of the most popular — and powerful — teenagers on TV, but like many kids her age, she still gets star struck in Hollywood.

Take for example, the 17-year-old’s recent work voicing one of the roles in new, 3D animated movie “Despicable Me,” which debuts in U.S. theaters on Friday.

Cosgrove ran into the film’s co-star Julie Andrews in the parking lot of a studio and gushed over the A-list actress.

“My mom and I have watched all her movies, like ‘Sound of Music’ and ‘Victor/Victoria,’” Cosgrove told Reuters. “I was really nervous because she’s kind of like, the queen. But she turned out to be the sweetest person.”

“Despicable Me” has Cosgrove voicing the role of one of three orphaned sisters who get adopted by the villain Gru (Steve Carrell) as part of a master plan to steal the moon with his army of minions.

Accused WWII criminal wins bid against extradition (AP) – NIMBRUNG.NET

Hot Breaking News about Accused WWII criminal wins bid against extradition AP

PERTH, Australia – An alleged Nazi collaborator wanted in Hungary in the torture and killing of a Jewish teenager in 1944 won an appeal Friday against extradition from his adopted country of Australia.

Charles Zentai, 88, is suspected by the Hungarian government of being one of three men who brutalized and killed a Jewish teenager in Budapest in 1944 for failing to wear a star identifying him as a Jew.

Zentai, who migrated to Australia in 1950 and later became a citizen, says he is innocent and was not even in Budapest at the time.

Hungary issued a warrant for his arrest in 2005, and after a long legal process Australian Home Affairs Minister Brendan O’Connor late last year approved a request to send Zentai back to face trial.

Zentai and his family appealed the decision to Australia’s Federal Court, and on Friday Judge Neil McKerracher ruled in his favor.
